My name is Dr. Valerie Nelson and I am the Director of the MISD Learning Center. The Learning Center is a program and does not operate as a traditional school. Our goal at the LC is to help your child be successful in completing their assigned days by developing better coping skills to deal with anger, disappointments and other social setting frustrations that may interfere with their success academically, behaviorally or socially.
The mission of the MISD Learning Center is to create and foster a climate and culture of Excellence Always that encourages self-discipline, academic excellence, resilience and self-awareness, by providing opportunities for growth, reflection, and restoration.
It is important that you know my goal is to build them up and strengthen their capacity to make good decisions in the most difficult times. Please call me if you have any further concerns.
The Learning Center is located at 230 Pioneer, Mesquite, Texas 75149
